Athol - Evan E. Woodyard, 55, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Golden LivingCenter, Downs, KS.
He was born January 29, 1962 in Westmoreland, KS, the son of Betty J. (Williams) and Eugene G. (Rusty) Woodyard. Evan attended Valley High in Blue Rapids, KS. In 1982 he married Carla Ascheman, together they were blessed with a son, James Lee Woodyard. On May 2, 1992, Evan married Marilyn Proctor Lewis in Blue Rapids, KS. Evan gained three step-children, Justin, Lyle and Sandra.
Evan worked many jobs throughout his life but he always came back to his passion of welding. Marilyn commented that he was a jokester, loved to laugh and just plain enjoyed life. He enjoyed western movies and fishing but he truly loved spending time with all of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dennis Woodyard and a sister Lana Woodyard.
Evan is survived by his wife Marilyn of Athol; three sons, James Woodyard of Smith Center, Lyle Lewis Jr. of Alton, Justin Lewis of Topeka; daughter Sandra Lewis of Chanute; brother Mark Woodyard of Greenleaf; sister Carolyn (Bob) Whitlinger of Marysville; mother & father-in-law Roy and Mary Proctor of Topeka; 3 brothers-in-law, Mike of Topeka, David and Vexa of Smith Center; 3 sisters-in-law, Becki and Kathy of Topeka and Darla of Smith Center; 11 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Evan's life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Maggie McIntosh officiating. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Evan E. Woodyard Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
